HELLO RTI is a social initiative for Right to Information (RTI) Awareness among students (class 9-12), made possible by the joint efforts of YOO Entertainment Media and National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM). Date: December 10, 2011. Venue: Ravindralaya, Lucknow
It is a inter-city student Right to Information awareness campaign scheduled to be held at Ravindralaya, Charbagh (Lucknow) on December 10, 2011. The aim of HELLO RTI is to spread mass awareness among youngsters ...about the overwhelming importance of Right to Information Act 2005, and its immense usage in day-to-day life and also at the same time signifies YOO’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Students from classes 9-12 participate in this unique initiative to raise awareness about the Right to Information Act 2005 and its widespread importance to them. They also get hands-on training on writing an RTI application and have direct interface with Senior RTI activists such as Shri Ishwar Chandra Dwivedi (former DGP), Shri Naveen Tewari (convener, UP state RTI Campaign of NAPM), Dr Sandeep Pandey (Magsaysay Awardee 2002, and convener, NAPM), SR Darapuri (former IG), Shri Amitabh Thakur (SP), Mrs. Nutan Thakur (writer, RTI activist & journalist) among others.
To steer the students towards effective use of RTI, Central Information Commissioner, Shri Shailesh Gandhi would be there at Lucknow on December 10, 2011.
There is also an information seminar with speeches on – RTI Act 2005, an Introduction, How do students become responsible citizens when they use their Right to Information, How to write and RTI Application, Common mistakes by students while filing RTI applications etc.
The campaign marks the establishment of National Student Right to Information (RTI) Club and launch of a Student RTI Information website. The prime focus of the event would is a conjoint RTI application filing session in which every student writes an RTI application in the guidance of our RTI volunteers. Post completion, all the RTI applications are despatched to the concerned Public Information Officers the very same day. After the information sought is received, the students whose application is found to be most impactful or brings about a significant change or unearths a serious corruption/ mismanagement or is instrumental in improving the functioning of a public department; is named for an award in a grand ceremony at New Delhi by renowned national icons.
